History

Simon Scott was born in Cambridge in the early seventies and spent his early teens drumming for Huntingdon`s The Charlottes who released the "love happy" album on Bristol's Subway records and a second album "Things fall apart" on Cherry Red. After tours with bands such as Ride, House of Love and Swervedriver he joined Slowdive who signed to Creation records in 1990. After three successful years which including drumming on the debut "Just for a day" album and after working with Brian Eno on Slowdive's second abum "Souvlaki" and touring the album Simon left to do session drumming. He worked during this time in the early to mid Nineties with acts such as James Taylor, Saint Etienne, Velocette, Jewel and Chapterhouse.

In London during 1997 Simon formed alternative/noise/electronica outfit Inner sleeve writing the songs, playing guitar (loudly) and singing lead vocals but after two singles and one album on Fierce Panda he split the group and drummed for Lowgold. They signed to Nude records in 1999 but after Grandaddy, Ed Harcourt and Coldplay tours, a critically acclaimed debut album and frustration Simon walked out.

He formed Televise in 2003 after a rare sighting of his hometown legend and ex Pink Floyd hero Syd Barrett inspired him to continue songwriting and "make the music I want to make". After releasing the Outside Out single on Club AC30 in May, 2005 was spent recording songs for a debut full-length with Pat Collier in South London and playing improvised shows at art exhibitions in London. Televise also contributed tracks to the soundtrack of Life On Mars, an award winning Australian short film and in 2006 played shows with Isan, Yellow 6, Cougar and Greg Davis.

Travelling on London Underground and the relentless intense sound of modern living provided sonic inspiration for the 2006 debut album Songs to sing in A&E as Simon recorded sounds to lay over instrumental tracks. Televise also draw heavily from electronic music using samples including Simons old school band member Jamie Liddell, now signed solo to warp records, taking his voice and manipulating it through a broken laptop.

2007 see`s Televise release the new "strings and wires" 6-track on London label Drifting Falling in April which takes a more ambient, electronic and minimal direction which was written and recorded by Simon in Cambridge at "The liver is evil and needs to be punished" studios.

Televise will also released a 7" of two remixes of tracks taken from "songs to sing in A&E" by artists Isan and Ulrich Schnauss in the summer of 2007.

Currently, Scott runs the KESH recording label from Cambridge and is also in Seavault with Antony Ryan from Isan who have released music on Morr Music. He has shared studio and stage with Brian Eno, Klimek, Machinefabriek, Jasper TX, Nils Frahm, Seasons Pre-Din, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Xela, Fever Ray, Svarte Greiner, Marcud Fjellstrom, Lawrence English, Fennesz and Taylor Deupree. He has also remixed ON, Autistici and Isan, provides production to the 'Hintergarten' album by Hannu and has co written with The Sight Below (who Scott plays guitar for live) for the second album It All Falls Apart due spring 2010.

Simon Scott debut album Navigare was released in October 2009
